Organized by the Directorate of Humanitarian Affairs of the ECOWAS Commission, the workshop aims to address the growing and complex humanitarian challenges confronting Member States. It brought together technical experts from across various institutions within the region to guide ECOWAS’s 2025 humanitarian interventions in critical areas such as Livelihood Support, Food and Nutrition, Education in Emergencies, Cash Assistance, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

Representing the NDMA at the workshop are Mr. Mohamed L. Bah, Director of Communications, and Mr. Abu Bakarr Bangura, Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation. While making a statement, Director Bangura emphasized the importance of such workshops in strengthening collaboration among Member States. He further noted that such workshops will enhance the agency’s continued progress in data collection and analysis systems to support more effective humanitarian planning and response.

Each participating country presented a detailed situational overview and outlined key intervention areas. The data presented will be analyzed by ECOWAS to determine the level of support required for each Member State.
