He was appointed in November 2020. He was once the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF). He retired from the RSLAF in June 2020 after serving for 29 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Diploma in Education (BA Dip Ed) from the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (DPA) from the Ghana Institute of Public Administration and Management (GIMPA) and a Master in Strategic Studies (MSS) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
