Mr. John Vandy Rogers is the Director-General of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) of Sierra Leone and a former National Security Officer with extensive experience in national security and Disaster Risk Management.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and a Master of Science (MSc) Degree from Njala University, obtained in 2003.
Mr. Rogers served in several senior capacities at the Office of National Security (ONS), including Director of Border Security, Director of the Monitoring and Oversight Department, Director of the Provincial Security Department, and Director of the Disaster Management Department where he played a key role in national disaster management and security coordination.
Following the establishment of the NDMA as a standalone agency in 2020, he served as Deputy Director-General from 2020 to 2025 before assuming his current position as Director-General.
In his current role, Mr. Rogers provides strategic leadership in disaster risk reduction, preparedness, emergency response and resilience. He also serves as the Government of Sierra Leone’s focal point for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), supporting national coordination and implementation of measures aimed at reducing disaster risks and strengthening the country’s resilience to emergencies and disasters.
