FSRP Headquarters, Pipe Lane, Off Wilkinson Road, Freetown, 30th June 2026 – The Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP) has donated fifteen (15) tablets to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) to strengthen data collection, early warning, and evidence based decision making in disaster preparedness and food crisis management.
The donation, made under Component One – Digital Advisory Services for Agriculture and Food Crisis Prevention and Management, is intended to enhance NDMA’s capacity by improving the collection, analysis, and management of disaster risk information to support timely interventions and strengthen food systems resilience nationwide.

Welcoming the NDMA delegation, FSRP Head of Communications, Christian Scott, said the Programme remains committed to help build the capacity of partner institutions through technical assistance and the provision of essential logistics. He noted that despite budgetary constraints, FSRP continues to prioritize institutional support to ensure sustainable project outcomes.
In his opening remarks, NDMA Director of Communications, Mohamed L. Bah, commended FSRP for its partnership with the Agency since the project’s inception. He expressed appreciation for FSRP’s previous support, including the donation of a vehicle, the production of a bulletin, and the collection of data on flood affected farm lands across the country. Mr. Bah further appealed for continuous support to enable the Agency to successfully implement its 2026 activities under the project.

Director General of NDMA, John Vandy Rogers, emphasized that quality data is fundamental to effective disaster risk analysis, agricultural planning, and food crisis prevention. He thanked the leadership of FSRP for its continued support and urged the Programme to sustain its assistance in implementing the remaining activities of the NDMA under Component One of the project.
“There is no effective analysis without quality data. Reliable information enables institutions to provide timely guidance to farmers on what to cultivate and what to avoid in order to maximize food production. We therefore look forward to sustained collaboration that will strengthen NDMA’s capacity, improve disaster preparedness, and enhance food security across the country.” DG Rogers stated.

Responding on behalf of FSRP, the FSRP’s Technical Lead, Mr. Mohamed Sippo, reaffirmed the Programme’s commitment to supporting NDMA throughout the implementation period.
“We are a data driven institution, and we place immense value on credible data. I want to assure NDMA that our support to this project will continue,” he said.
Mr. Sippo disclosed that FSRP had successfully completed its mid term review, marking two-and-a-half years of implementation under the five-year Programme. He explained that the review assessed progress made so far and identified areas requiring strategic adjustments to maximize the Programme’s impact during the remaining implementation period.

The engagement concluded with a formal handing over of tablets to the NDMA. The tablets are equipped with Android Version 14 operating systems, 164GB storage capacity, high resolution cameras, and durable batteries for field operations. The tablets will definitely enhance the Agency’s data management capabilities.
Receiving the equipment, Director General John Vandy Rogers thanked FSRP for its continued support and assured that the tablets would be deployed across NDMA’s regional and district offices to strengthen disaster preparedness and food crisis management.
