NDMA Headquarters, Aberdeen, Freetown, February 5 2026 – The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), on Wednesday, February 4 2026, through its Directorate of Partnership, received a delegation from Catholic Relief Services (CRS) during a courtesy visit by the organization’s new leadership. The visit also served as a farewell engagement for the outgoing CRS Country Manager, Ms. Jeanne Ella Andrianambining.
NDMA’s Deputy Director General , Mr. Sulaiman B. Sowa, welcomed the CRS delegation and highlighted the Agency’s appreciation for the longstanding partnership between the NDMA and CRS.
The Director General of NDMA, Mr. John Vandy Rogers, who chaired the meeting provided a brief background on the establishment of the Agency, noting that NDMA was created by an Act of Parliament in 2020 with the mandate to coordinate disaster management across Sierra Leone. He described CRS as one of NDMA’s most dependable partners since inception, particularly in supporting community level disaster resilience initiatives.

He further outlined key areas of CRS’s support to NDMA, including contributions to coordination meetings, capacity building efforts, and critical logistical donations such as five laptops, five swivel chairs, a printer, a water dispenser, and five motorbikes, all of which have enhanced the Agency’s operational effectiveness.
The Director General expressed profound gratitude to the outgoing Country Manager, Ms. Jeanne Ella Andrianambining, for her exceptional leadership and commitment, which significantly strengthened collaboration between CRS and NDMA. He also warmly welcomed the incoming Country Manager, Mr. Michael Moyo, and assured him of NDMA’s readiness to deepen the partnership.
“Our focus going forward is sustainability and proactive disaster risk reduction. We are committed to deepening our partnership with CRS to deliver community-led, resilient solutions that reduce disaster risks nationwide,” the Director General said.

On behalf of CRS, Ms. Andrianambining thanked NDMA for the cooperation and institutional support she received throughout her tenure, describing her engagement with the Agency as both smooth and impactful. She commended NDMA for its professionalism and dedication in managing disaster risks nationwide.
The incoming CRS Country Manager, Mr. Michael Moyo, paid tribute to his predecessor for her achievements and pledged to build on the strong foundation laid. He reaffirmed CRS’s commitment to continued collaboration with NDMA, particularly under the CLEAR Project (Community-Led Environmental Actions for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience).
A goodwill message was also delivered by the CRS Country Representative from Liberia, who expressed interest in strengthening cross border collaboration between CRS Liberia and NDMA Sierra Leone.
The engagement ended on a cordial note, with both NDMA and CRS reaffirming their commitment to continued partnership to strengthen disaster resilience across the country.
